2022 Ralph Cohen Prize Winner Announced

Congratulations to Rachel Greenspan for her essay, “Naming Argentina: Torture, (Anti)Humanism, and Disappearance in Luisa Valenzuela’s Fictions,” which has won the 2022 Ralph Cohen Prize. Her essay will be published next year in New Literary History.

2021 Ralph Cohen Prize Winner Announced

Congratulations to Doyle Calhoun for his essay, “Dead Narrators, Queer Terrorists: On Suicide Bombing and Literature,” which has won the 2021 Ralph Cohen Prize.  His essay will be published next spring in New Literary History.

Branka Arsić to deliver NLH Distinguished Lecture

On September 29, Branka Arsić of Columbia University will deliver the NLH Distinguished Lecture, “Marvelous Extinctions: Melville on Animal Suffering.” The lecture is currently scheduled for in-person delivery, though circumstances may require the event to be streamed via Zoom (with details and link forthcoming).

The Humanities in a Disenchanted Age: An NLH Forum

On September 24, Merve Emre will join authors Paul Reitter and Chad Wellmon in an NLH Forum on Permanent Crisis: The Humanities in a Disenchanted Ages, just out from the University of Chicago Press. The Forum will be held on Zoom, with details and link forthcoming.
